How to get a trade certificate?

In order to obtain a trade certificate, an applicant must submit an application to RTO. In each and every state of India, there is a regional Transport office and in order to get this certificate, you must visit the local RTO. I am also providing you would a complete guide on the procedure through which you can apply for a trade certificate:

  1. First, the person must apply for a trade certificate by submitting his or her application at RTO.
  2. The fee for application for issuance of the trade certificate  must be submitted by the applicant to the RTO
  3. The fee is as per rule 81 of the central motor vehicles act 1989.
  4. The Applicants must submit a separate application if his or her vehicle is from the following class of vehicles:
  5. Light motor vehicle

  6. Heavy goods vehicle

  7. Heavy passenger motor vehicle

  8.  Motorcycle

  9. Medium passenger motor vehicle

Documents required for national trade certificate

In order to obtain a trade certificate from the registering authority the major document that is needed to be submitted at the RTO is form number 17. Other documents that are needed to be submitted are PAN number, images and map of the workplace, GST number of business or from, valid address proof, etc.

Government regulations on the use of trade certificate

Certain rules and regulations have been specified by the government regarding the use of trade certificate. For example, a trade certificate can only be used by someone to whom this certificate has been issued by the RTO. No other person can use this certificate but there are many other circumstances in which a person can use this certificate and those are:

  • Any individual who is driving a motor vehicle and doing so on behalf of the holder of a trade certificate.
  • Any individual who is driving the motor vehicle and doing so as a buyer is willing to buy the vehicle from the individual who holds the trade certificate.
