To support the new era of standardisation industry’s first tri-radio is now launched. Industry’s first tri-radio is a secure radio solution that enables support from wifi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 and 802.15.4 simultaneously.

There are other millions of traditional IoT software and hardware in the industry but for an interconnected IoT future a new radio solution this week was released, which claims to be “industry first”

Tri-radio device.

It’s a network that connects devices with the technology that facilitates communication between devices and the cloud.

The “Matter” standard allows us to build and connect reliable, secure IoT systems. This “Matter” standard also aims to increase compatibility among smart house and smart building devices.

This “Matter” standard needs IP based connection leveraging internet protocol such as Bluetooth low energy (BLE), wifi and threads etc.

Here is a list of some companies involved in “Matter” standards –

  • NXP

And all of these companies together claim to bring their unique expertise to the “Matter” standard.

The main aim of tri-radio 1W612 is to improve interoperability in IoT devices by allowing designers to support the protocol on a single piece of hardware.

This device is cost-effective and is easily accessible and results in a more functional and computable device for their smart home ecosystems.

1W612 leverages a highly integrated radio frequency(RF) front end consisting of a subsystem for each of the three protocols.

1W612 has a wifi subsystem consisting of a wifi Mac (media access control) baseband, a dedicated wifi CPU and a direct convention radio.

1W612 supports both single and dual antenna configurations.

This integrated security solution overcomes hardware coexistence challenges that developers face nowadays. This tri-radio solution also provides advanced security protocols to help thwart the ever-increasing numbers of security threats faced by the IoT (especially robust attacks on the IoT).

  • WIFI 6 helps in extending the range, improves robustness and lower Power by reducing network configuration.
  • 802.15.4 for “Matter” with threat mesh networking.
  • Bluetooth 5.2 for audio, voice and network commissioning.
  • Tri-radio integration
  • Robust security for protection against IoT attacks.
  • High power PA’s for cost-savings.
  • Helps in reducing bills of materials and footprints
  • Pre-validated connection for microprocessor and microcontroller portfolio.
